30 Jul Happy Friendship Day
Eros will have naked bodies; Friendship naked personalities. – C.S Lewis
Across the globe, people are celebrating a special occasion on the first Sunday of August. They’re the people you spend time with and sometimes even knows you better than your family. On this day, we are celebrating Friendship Day.
This tradition has been an ongoing one (though not as popular) since 1935 in the US.
With the advent of social media, the world now celebrates this special occasion that reaches even to India.
Today is a special day for best wishes, reflection and expression of a friendship love.
So how do you know you’ve found your one true friend?
Shared joy is double joy and shared sorrow is half the sorrow. A friend will sympathize and empathize when the need arises.
He/She wants to communicate with you regularly. Distance won’t wane away your friendship.
Earned your trust. A true friend is someone you can trust. They won’t talk behind you when you’re not there. They defend your cause and stick with you through the thick of the battle.
A true friend will stand against you if they know you’re heading the wrong path. Aside from this friction, a true friend will not always be the ‘yes’ person you thought. If they truly care enough, they would see to it that it’s what’s best for you.
May this occasion remind us that no man is an island. And every true friend “sees the same truth and share it”.
